Alas, the sweet summer has ended. And in Raleigh/Durham, it lasted all the way till the beginning of October! When it comes to summer, we all experience fun in the sun, family trips, beautiful shorelines, and pool days complete with little umbrella drinks posted all over our Instagram account. Yes, when it comes to summer, no part of us would trade in those memories, except for our hair, perhaps.

Summer provides nourishment for the soul, yes, but we can’t say the same for our precious locks. The end of the season usually leaves our hair dull, over-processed due to sun exposure, and heavy due to environmental buildup. Our hair has been doused in chlorine, drowned in salt water, rinsed with hard water full of heavy minerals when we travel to hotels, and exposed to tons of UV rays. But worry not, friends. There is hope!

This Weekend Beauty Tip is all about restoring your hair’s beauty and strength, so you’ll look smashing for this beautiful Fall weather that is upon us! I did a little digging and found some great and simple ways to get your hair in shape for the Fall! Celebrity guru Frédéric Fekkai gives some quotes below on how to best prep your hair for Autumn.

“After months of exposure to beach sprays, sunscreen and chlorine, your hair may not feel as clean and nourished as you’d like. The build-up your hair has endured can diminish shine, movement, and touchable texture.” We’d recommend picking up Redken Hair Cleansing Cream (to the left) next time you stop by Posh. It clarifies and works to remove copper, iron, hard water minerals and styling product build-up. How does this cream do its magic? It contains a high concentration of chelating agents that surround minerals, making them more soluble so they can be washed away. Cool, right?

“Explore autumn hues and shades to take your hair into the new season. I’ve always believed that your hair is your perfect accessory, so experimenting with rich browns, honey blondes or vibrant reds that compliment your skin tone is a way to transform your overall look and add dimension to your hair.” Natural, deep, rich shades are trending right now, so there’s no better time to accentuate your hair’s natural tones.

“If you have spent the whole summer lounging in the sun, it’s likely your hair may be dry, damaged and lost a lot of its shine. To ensure your hair is healthy and gorgeous, trim your split and brittle ends to prevent future breakage.” Most people are scared to have a haircut after summer because they are enjoying their length, however, even if they make it to their desired length, their ends will be broken and unsightly. A trim and deep conditioning treatment will help keep the length you want while ensuring the health and integrity of your hair.

So enjoy the beginning of Fall, Poshers! Thanks for stopping by the blog for your Weekend Beauty Tip!
